What is collected, and what is not.
Two things are covered here, and they are separate: these websites, and the OI app. The app is in beta, so this page says what is true today rather than what will be true at public release.
These websites
oinventory.app and beta.oinventory.app are static files. No analytics, no tracking pixels, no advertising, no cookies. Nothing is stored in your browser by either site.
Fonts, styles, images and scripts are served from these domains, so loading a page does not announce your visit to a font CDN, a tag manager or a social network. The only third-party request either site makes is Cloudflare Turnstile, and only on the beta page, and only because the signup form would otherwise be filled in by scripts rather than people.
The sites are served through Cloudflare from a private bucket. Cloudflare processes requests on the way through and keeps short-lived operational logs; that is a condition of serving the site at all, and not something either site adds to.
The beta list
If you submit the form on the beta page, what is kept is:
- Your email address, because there is no way to email you without it.
- Optionally, what you drive and whether you travel in a group — both blank by default, and used only to pick a testing group with a mix of real rigs.
- The time you signed up, so the list can be worked through in order.
It is used for one purpose: telling you when there is a build to install. It is not a newsletter list, it is not shared, it is not sold, and it is not used to advertise anything. Every message includes a way out, and asking to be removed is enough — write to [email protected] and the entry is deleted.
The list is stored in a database in AWS eu-central-1 (Frankfurt), in an account run for this project. Submitting the form also sends one notification to [email protected] containing what you entered — that is how the list is worked through. Your IP address is not stored with the entry; it is used only as a short-lived counter that limits how many signups one connection can make in a day, and that counter deletes itself. If the beta does not happen, the list is deleted rather than kept.
The app
OI is usable with no account at all. In that mode everything — rigs, kit, trips, checks — stays in a database on the phone and no server is involved.
Signing in with Google or Apple adds sync to a self-hosted backend in the EU (Postgres, on infrastructure run for this project, not a third-party SaaS analytics product). What syncs is what you entered: your rigs, your kit, vehicle checks, service records, trips and photos.
Rules that hold today, and are enforced by the database rather than by each screen:
- Visibility is per item, not per account. A new item is visible to your Friends — people you added yourself — and to nobody else until you widen it. The default itself can be set to Private in settings.
- No location history. A coarse area can be set so nearby features work, and it is snapped to a grid rather than stored as your exact position.
- Contact happens in the app. Phone numbers and email addresses are not shown to other users.
- No advertising identifiers, no third-party analytics SDK, and no data sold to anyone.
While OI is in beta
- Deletion is by email for now. The in-app button arrives with the first public build; until then, write to [email protected] and your account and its data are removed.
- Treat beta data as beta data. Keep anything irreplaceable somewhere else as well — Export my data gives you a copy whenever you want one.
- This notice is written for the beta. It is replaced by the full policy at public release, and the date at the bottom of the page tells you which version you are reading.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. One address handles all three: [email protected].
